Citation: Arman Madiji, Sick of It All

– « Obviously the earlier tours were always the most difficult. […] One reason was that we weren’t making any money. We were just doing it for God knows what reason–maybe some emotional outlet, it was never an income thing. Every once in a while you really have to question yourself. What are you doing this for? Why are you subjecting yourself to all this? I guess you just have to really believe in what you are doing and stick it out long enough to actually make it work. Touring is a lot of fun and I do look forward to it. Sometimes being on the road is an emotional seesaw. One day you’re having the time of your life, the next day you fall into a real deep depression and totally feel isolated from everything you know, you’re in a totally different environment and you don’t know how to deal with it… but that’s what builds character. A lot of bands totally cop out, can’t really deal with the touring, and never really give themselves the chance to discover different parts of themselves… because you do go through a lot of things & emotions that you’d never experience in normal nine to five life. Even when I quit the band for personal reasons– after a little while, holding down a job was so frustrating, dealing with the same routine day in and day out. I couldn’t cope… I needed back in the band, I’m not a nine to five guy. »
